Faith in the Middle of the Madness: How to Be a Godly Man in a World Gone Full Florida Man

Let’s be honest for a second. We are living in weird times. I mean, we’ve got artificial intelligence writing love songs, adults arguing on TikTok about whether the earth is flat (again), people getting emotionally triggered over paper straws, and men’s jeans being tighter than their spiritual lives. Somewhere along the way, masculinity got confused with toxicity, biblical truth got labeled as "outdated opinions," and being a man of God is seen as some sort of endangered species on the brink of extinction like Blockbuster, or full-service gas stations.

But here’s the thing: we were born for this time. Not to blend in, not to back down, but to rise up.

God Didn't Call You to Be Comfortable—He Called You to Be Courageous

The Apostle Paul didn’t tell Timothy, “Try to be mildly spiritual when it’s trending.” He said, “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called…” in 1 Timothy 6:12 (ESV). There’s that word again...fight. God never sugarcoated this thing. He knew following Christ would be a war zone in a world more worried about followers than following Jesus.

Culture Says “Fit In.” Christ Says “Stand Out.”

Society wants to shove you into a mold:

  • Be passive.

  • Numb yourself with work, sports, porn, or scrolling.

  • Stay silent about your faith.

  • Smile and nod at things that grieve the heart of God.

But Ephesians 5:15-16 tells us: “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Translation? Don’t walk around like a spiritual zombie. Wake up. Strap on the armor. There’s a reason it’s called the armor of God and not the yoga pants of God. You’re in a war, not a wellness retreat.

Jesus Didn’t Die So You Could Be a Sunday-Only Man

Let’s rip the band-aid off: Church attendance isn’t the goal. A personal, every-single-day, raw, honest relationship with the living God is. The kind where you stop pretending and start pursuing. Where your prayer life isn’t just “Lord, help me not cuss out my coworker today,” but instead becomes, “God, I need You more than I need comfort, applause, or even understanding.” That’s real faith. And in this culture, real faith looks crazy.

Analogy Time: You’re Not a Netflix Show—You’re a Live Broadcast

We live in an on-demand world. Pause. Rewind. Skip. Binge-watch. But your walk with God? It’s live. No edits. No do-overs. You don’t get to “skip the hard parts” of marriage, parenting, accountability, or obedience. If your life was a show right now, would anyone recognize Jesus as the main character?

How Do We Actually Live This Out?

Let’s keep it simple, fellas. Three words: Presence, Purpose, and Persistence.

  1. Presence – Get in God’s Word like it’s your spiritual pre-workout. Talk to Him. Don’t ghost your Creator. Psalm 16:11 — “In Your presence there is fullness of joy.”

  2. Purpose – You’re not here to be passive. You’re here to be a Kingdom builder, not a couch potato. Ephesians 2:10 — “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works...”

  3. Persistence – This world will push. Your flesh will pull. But God is greater. Galatians 6:9 — “Let us not grow weary in doing good...”

Here’s Your Challenge, Brother:

Don’t settle for being a “well-behaved man.” Be a dangerous disciple, the kind of man hell gets nervous about when he wakes up in the morning. Take ten minutes today. Read your Bible. Actually talk to God. Call another brother in Christ and pray together, even if it’s awkward. Because the Kingdom of God doesn’t advance through convenience, it advances through commitment. This week, don’t be another cultural echo. Be a Holy Spirit-fueled, gospel-grounded, Jesus-loving problem for the enemy.

We’re not called to survive the culture. We’re called to change it...one man, one family, one city at a time. Let’s get after it.
